I'll be interested to hear your findings with the script once you're finished with your categorising.
If I had many RAW's I'd probably use JGP with dimensions the same as my largest monitor and use them as main images with the categories. This would speed up the slide show etc. enormously. To keep the RAW's online or ofline is yet another matter.
