there are some Versioning scripts that use a filenaming scheme. Perhaps have a look there.

Using filenames in the VersionFinder looks simple. Perhaps search on the first 20 or so characters of your filename would do the trick. You can simply try this by doing a Search > for XMP data. the Title variable has the filename. (VersionFinder works with this search)

For the Master_Version script you may run into speed problems when using the filename. Perhaps not if you have the filename in a property.
